The Sewing Room Is Clean

This past week I tackled the sewing room. It is a much used room whether I am sewing or not, so it doesn't take much for it to get messy. I must say the built ins and place for everything has worked tremendously, but I don't have a laundry room. I only have a closet with my washer and dryer in it...there in lies my problem.

I use the space in the sewing room to bring the laundry baskets and one thing leads to another and it just gets a little junky.

My other big problem is that I don't really have a drop off zone for my purse or things that you bring in, so they kind of get dropped off on my wrapping station/ desk. Since the wrapping station was in full swing the month of December, things got dropped on the floor in front of the shelves. That was my old ways creeping back in.

The laundry closet is right at the back door where ALL, not just family enter...yuk! Then the sewing room, so you can see how I would just drop things off there.

With that said, New Year's organization and the need to tidy up after Christmas, I decided to tackle the sewing room first.

I want to sew this year and that is scheduled in, so I am going to have to work on not letting it be a drop off zone. The laundry should go better now that the holidays are over and I have Mom down here, so not as much traveling. I am pretty good about taking the mail and handling once, but I need a little more of a drop off zone for my purse. I am pondering that one.

A long time ago, I wrote a post introducing my sewing room. I wasn't sure where to place the clock. I had to sit in there to know. It worked out to be above the door. I can sit and sew and see it perfectly.

I must say that this year was amazing with the wrapping station. I stayed on top of that like never before.  I loved it more than ever.

Before I sew tonight though, I have a little project for daughter. We have these frames that were made by my cousin from reclaimed wood from her grandparents' house on the other side of the family. Love them. I made a chicken wire hanging thing to put some reminders on in my sewing room. I made another just like that Lindsay uses for pictures. For the last one, she wants a chalkboard with a verse on it, so that is on my project list this afternoon.

So blessed. This is absolutely my favorite room in the house. It is full of all the things I love!

  1. I would love to have a room like that Sandy!! I gave up my sewing machine just because it was so hard to find a place to sew.

    1. I do love the room. You are giving sewing machines away and I get more. Mom had my first sewing machine that I took to college with me still at her house. I have it and getting it ready for my daughter. I think she will love it, IF I can let it go:)
