Popping In

It almost seems a bit crazy to post things that are lighthearted and fluff in one sense, but in another it seems the way to stay sane--- is to provide some bit of normalcy. I suppose we will all know when it is time to quit posting everyday life.  I think the sad stories are going to pile up soon.

I am praying for all and found some comfort in this message by Dr. Tony Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas. I will share it with you if you are so inclined to watch.

In the meantime, yesterday was spent rearranging my shelves in the sewing /work room. I took everything off except the notebooks at the bottom and cleaned; then put back in. I pretty much just switched a lot that was on the lower to the top and vice versa. I wanted the things I actually used to be quicker to get to and the more decorative items on the harder to get to shelves. I did stretch my floss boxes out instead of stacked. I used the most narrow shelves to do this. It ended up taking an extra shelf to do this, but will be much more convenient. I stacked some things that I don't get into as often.
I felt so accomplished afterwards.

I did change out my needle storage. It has been a hodgepodge mess for a while. I found an extra fishing tackle box out in the garage. Hubby will never miss it.

I am normally a one stitch at a time girl and I know I said I was going to stitch exclusively on my blue jays, but I made a mistake the other day and just really really wanted to stitch to calm me, so I pulled out one I had started last year. I will just share progress and let you wonder what it will be. It is an oldie but goldie pattern from my stash.

My family has all had to work at some point this week. Paul Allen works in maintenance for the school district so he was actually looking forward to getting a few things done at schools while they were closed for spring break.
Jeff and Lindsay both work at a higher level and have had to be involved in the planning sessions to get school going online for the district. Lindsay worked only one day.  Jeff worked two other days. Katie is home and the plans that are made will be what she does on Monday. She teaches 4th grade. I think yesterday is the only day I actually had the whole day to myself.

I am grateful they are getting paychecks. No complaining here.

The one day Lindsay worked, Jeff and I took the dogs and Tucker to the park to let the Gus get some energy out. I thought this picture was cute of Tucker and Paw Paw.

Spring is in full force here and the weather has been absolutely beautiful this week. I think rain may be coming, but for today I plan to work outside most of the day. I have a few windows to wipe down on the back, some pots to clean out for the tomatoes, some general cleaning, and inside of my truck detailing.

I have been reading Matthew in preparation for Easter. My church's message series was and is going through the book of John. I have no clue whether church will be back in person by Easter, but I am so grateful for the Internet and the ability to watch online. I love Jesus and pray this will turn many back to Him.

Take care everyone,
Sandy

  1. Good morning Sandy, thank you for sharing your life and your faith. I don't have a blog, but I do instagram. I enjoy so much reading my favorite blogs with my morning cup of coffee:) I retired 5 years ago and still have stuff scattered all over the house, sigh. But, you do give me hope. God, will direct our paths, and show us what we need to do. We just have to take things one day at a time. Like, you I am grateful, my Children are doing ok thru this. Keep up the good work...and again thank you. Have a blessed day.

  2. Love the picture of Tucker with his Paw Paw and Gus! Well done on cleaning the shelves in your sewing/work room! Everything looks so neat and organized. Spring has arrived here as well. No guess on what you are stitching on, but the colors are bright and cheery. Enjoy your Friday and have a peaceful weekend!

  3. Organized craft shelves!!!! Wonderful!!! I so need to take time to do a makeover with my stuff that's divided between our dining table aka craft table and in 1 of our garages. Thanks for inspiring. Faith-wise, we attend a very small country church and even with our small numbers, half of us are over 55, so to protect everyone, we've cancelled services for the next two weeks. Not sure if this will extend but hopefully all of us will spend much time in prayer.

  5. I love back view pictures. They're so expressive and not posed, they say a lot.

Good for you for rearranging shelves. I find sometimes that things I use a lot are somehow behind stuff I don't use so much. The illogic of it!

  6. My guess is your stitch has a watermelon in it. The colors are so vibrant and cheery.

Yes, this is a good time to take advantage of sending both encouragement and light-hearted articles to each other to boost the spirit.

One I saw said this is the first time in history that we can save the human race by laying in front of the TV and doing nothing -- urging us to not mess this up! Love it!

  9. Your sewing/work room shelves look wonderful! So well organized! I know that must feel good to have that done and know where everything is! I don't do much sewing or cross stitch, etc., but I admire those who do and appreciate the beautiful work that you do. Being a lefty I just never got into needlework and I don't seem to have the patience to sit down and work on something for long. But I love to read and write and take pictures of the birds and nature...that is my hobby and it doesn't take up much space! LOL. Enjoy your lovely spring days. It has been beautiful here too, although pretty warm in the afternoons, but cooling off again in the evenings so it has been delightful. Thankful your family is still well employed. God is good. So far so good for our family too, although our oldest son has a home-based carpentry business that is starting to slow down. People are afraid to order things right now. Thankfully his wife's job is still good and they are okay. We are thankful to be healthy and able. God IS good!!

  10. Sandy, You certainly are motivating me to work on my craft room. Your shelving is so well organized and looks so nice all at the same time...are all those binders filled with patterns?? I use binders and the xerox sheets to hold my recipes and patterns. I've been slowly purchasing new binders at Staples so the look all uniform. Yours looks so neat and orderly!!
What a charming photo you posted of Tucker and Paw Paw and Gus!!

  11. Sandy: It does seem a little crazy, it is so far out of the normal, however we are strong in this country, we have been through worse and will survive.
    Thank-you for the video link.
Tucker Papa and Gus look like the perfect trio.
I am loving your new stitch design.

  12. I think organizing really helps during this crazy time, Sandy. Yesterday, I even tackled my junk drawer in my kitchen :) I can't seem to relax and stitch very long these days--my mind keeps wandering and I give up after not too long. I so love your extensive shelving unit in your sewing room--wow! My stuff is scattered between four rooms with no dedicated craft room. I could turn one of our old bedrooms into one, but the light is just not great up there and these days I really need light for my aging eyes :)

Best wishes and prayers for you and your family--stay well and safe! ♥
