Well folks, my surgery was canceled less than 24 hours prior to go time.
I don't know who is responsible, but I have had all the phone calls I want to deal with today. I will share more later, but for my surgery day I am going to give myself a hey day. My hey day is going to be watching a movie on my recovery list, reading one of my books in my stack and stitching on my latest stitch.
Bottom line is - it is the doctor's office saying my insurance, United Health Care had not approved the surgery. The UHC person says the doctor didn't get the information to them in time to review and approve. Both are accusing the other.
Jeff doesn't handle things like he might once have, so he was so unhappy that I had to just be so quiet and stable. He was saying no insurance that you pay that much for should have the approval process at all. He also thinks they saw I am about to turn 65 and decided to hold out on it. Who knows?!!! Lindsay was pulling out all her contacts since she is still at the district office for the schools which is where our insurance still comes from.
This I do know, God is in control and I am a believer in things happen for a reason.
Remember, when I was supposed to go to Haiti and the trip was canceled at 8:00 PM. Katie and I were supposed to fly out at 5:00 AM the next morning. At the very time we would have landed in Port-au-Prince, riots were breaking out and Haiti hasn't been the same since. A week after that a church group was taken hostage.
So, I will just go with the flow.
Be back later after I have come down from the high energy levels I have been at all week trying to get my house perfect and so much more.
Just wanted to give my prayer warriors a heads up. Thanks, guys.
Yes... God is in control. You are the second person today who has had surgery canceled by UHC. Gosh, I have UHC and have had good luck with surgeries. Wonder what the heck is going on??!!! But, again, God is in control. I agree 100%. Keep us posted!! xo
ReplyDeleteI have never had any trouble either. Jeff is convinced it is because I am 3 months from Medicare plus supplement. I don't know, but my daughter says it has happened to more than one at the district too.
DeleteI had decided to go with Florida Blue for my supplemental plan come September. This has kinda of shown me that is a good decision.
Either way I am convinced that it will all work out and in His timing.
Arghgh, you're modeling calm and acceptance. But it's a letdown after all the prep for the days of recovery as well as surgery. Can they try again?
ReplyDeleteYes, there can be a new date, but it is much later than I would have liked and clash with some other things. I know it will work out though.
DeleteWhile frustrating, you have peace that God is in control of the timing. Enjoy your YOU day!!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the canceled surgery, Sandy. It is frustrating when people blame the other and vice versa. But God is in control. Hope you enjoyed your me day!
ReplyDeleteSo frustrating, but at least you didn't arrive for the surgery only to be told it was cancelled. Anything with medical care seems to be taking forever these days. I'm really sorry, Sandy, as I'm sure you had geared yourself up for the surgery and then it must have been a huge letdown. I hope you pamper yourself today (and in days to come!). You deserve it. Sending hugs...
ReplyDeleteWow. That's a lot to deal with. I'd say I'm sorry the surgery ws cancelled but as you pointed out, God is in control and you've definitely seen His Providence with past experiences of cancelations.
ReplyDeleteSandy you are on my heart and in my prayers. I really do understand your frustration, but hang in there:)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your surgery was cancelled, so frustrating because you get yourself prepared for these things. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for another appointment, in the meantime enjoy your pamper sessions.
ReplyDeleteHello Sandy: So sorry that happened to you, I have heard United Healthcare does this often, we have Blue Cross Blue Shield, have never been turned away, I pray all will work out for you. Yes God is always in control. I Pray for the people that do not believe in him.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Catherine
Aww Sandy, I'm sorry your surgery was cancelled on such short notice, but you sure do have a good attitude about it. I could take a lesson from you, friend.
