About Me

Hey y'all,

I'm Sandy.

I live along the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida. Shhh, I really don't like for everyone to know how beautiful or the traffic will increase even more and make it just that much harder to get to those sugary white sands. I have lived in the deep south all of my life except for a two year stint in Germany as a baby. (Daddy was stationed there right after I was born.)

I am a wife, mother, daughter, school teacher (retired after 31 years as of June 2014), and follower of Christ.

Things I Love
a clean house
banana pudding
macaroni and tomatoes
sewing and stitching
growing roses and geraniums
reading
doggies
orange and blue together
pink
monograms
seersucker and gingham
starched clothes (yea, I know I am probably the last person on Earth who still irons everything)
baking
sunshine
PURSES!!! one can never have too many
history of space exploration

I am a southern girl to the core of my being except for one small thing. I absolutely hate sweet tea, but I do love lemonade!

Amended September 1st, 2025

I decided to amend this page with a little more detail about the people you read about in the blog. I started out clueless as to the direction of the blog, but the unexpected gift was the many friends and connections I have made and continue to make.

I share my cross stitching here as well as my life. My little tag line, “A blog about decorating, stitching, baking, gardening, family, and walking a faith filled journey,” is not so true anymore, but I leave it because who knows —-maybe one day I will get back to it.

My family has grown since March 22, 2014, the date of my first post.

I thought I would share the “characters” of this little blog.

First up is my husband, Jeff and myself. After health challenges, we are grateful for everyday we have together.

Our oldest, daughter Lindsay is married and has 2 boys. Meet Lindsay and her husband Tyler and their 2 boys, Tucker and Palmer.

Our youngest, son Paul Allen (yes, this mama gave him a good double southern name) is married and has a son and daughter. Meet Paul Allen and his wife Katie and their children Miles and Valerie.

  1. Hi Sandy! I'm visiting from Life On Willie Mae Lane. You left a sweet comment on my blog so I had to come visit. Imagine my surprise to read that you live on the Gulf Coast. I'm a Florida girl too and live very close to the Suwannee River. Where exactly do you live? And...I'm a teacher too. I see that you're recently retired. I teach kindergarten...:) I am in awe of your gorgeous home and will most definitely be visiting often. Have a lovely weekend and Mothers Day...if you're a mom!

    Blessings, Vicky

    1. Thanks Vicky,
I am on the Choctawhatchee Bay and am very blessed with our home. I never ever take it for granted. I am so glad you visited.
I am a very sporadic blogger...just when the notion strikes me!

  2. Hi there Sandy! It is wonderful to meet you! You left a comment on my blog as well. I had to come by for a visit and then discovered you live in my neck of the woods. We are both near the Gulf coast! If you are ever in the Fairhope area, you should let me know! I'm as southern as you are and would love to meet for a glass of lemonade.

    1. Thanks Kim. I have read your blog for a good while discovering it on Leslie Anne's. One of these days I will have to hop over and visit y'all.

  4. Just slide your glass of sweet tea over to me and we'll get along fine! (smile)

We have a lot of common interests. I've just now subscribed to your blog.
