My plan is to make a pillow like on the example, but you know how that goes ...always subject to change. I really like the ribbon on the example, so hoping to find something like that.
I debated back and forth the entire time I stitched whether to put the HOME on the bottom. It is not that I don't like it, but some reason I just wanted the bluebird to be the focus. By adding the HOME, I felt that would be a focal point.
For how many green lines to add to the bottom well, that debate could have gone on forever. I just wanted it to look balanced. I just had to make decision and put the model away.
I really like this one. IT called for one over one and lots of "fancy" colors. I ended up doing it on 28 count antique white Cashel linen and doing two over two. I used only one fancy color; the green vine is Weathered Vine by Classic Colorworks. For the remainder of the project, I used color conversion charts and tweeded the colors with DMC. I am good with my choice.
Oh, and I added an eye to the bird.
On to something else,
Sandy
Well done, Sandy!😊 It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you...hoping you are feeling better. Been praying for you!
DeleteHe is just lovely, Sandy! I know your pillow will be wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day to you!
Congratulations on your finish, Sandy! I like yours much more than the cover shot of the designer's. Your colors are more vibrant, at least on my screen. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin. The colors did turn out a bit brighter. I am happy with it....now, if I can just do the ribbon like that.
DeleteI love it Sandy. This is such a great pattern and I like how you made your changes to make it exactly how you wanted it. I know your pillow will be beautiful. It's lovely! RJ
ReplyDeleteThanks RJ.
DeleteIt looks great! And I agree with you, I like it better without the word home at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI'm replying to my own post, which is weird!
DeleteI've been reading through your posts about hypothyroidism and they're so helpful. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog to let me know about these posts.
P.S. - I'm your newest follower!
Thanks Angela. I still have days when I am a little lackluster with energy, but overall I am 100% better.
DeleteI thought I commented but when I post on my phone sometimes it does not go through for some reason. Anyway, I love your finish. The colors are beautiful. If you could find a ribbon you like, you could ruche it yourself. Vonna has a great tutorial on several methods of ruching. I had a 48 hour bug in Ga and I must say that getting over bugs is harder as we get older. I am still dragging a bit myself.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you were sick. You are so right about not getting back up so quickly. I honestly have felt bad for a month. I finally went to the doctor and it helped, but I was so tired even after all my symptoms went away. I haven't been sick for awhile. I am back to spraying my probiotic spray around the house and running my diffuser religiously. I had kind of slacked on both. I think they make a difference.
DeleteI have seen Vonna's tutorial and have fooled with it once, but I chose ribbon that was too wide on a too small project, so I didn't use it. I really like that ribbon, so I will head to Hobby Lobby and see if I can find some.
Get well soon. I am headed out later this week on my trip, so I will be out a bit. I wrote one post to send while I am gone.
In fact, I was taking a break from some cleaning when I typed the first reply. I then decided to just go look and see if 123stitch had the exact ribbon. They didn't so I went to that Country Stitches that is the store for With Thy Needle and Thread. They did. Just ordered it. Trust me ...no one would have had it. It wasn't all that expensive either. I also ordered May and June of the word plays. I have wanted those forever. Oh my!
DeleteNo, Brenda's colors are quite distinctive . I am hoping to order some of the Word Play Charts from her website. They are so cute. Really I need to stitch what I have but you know that bug that bites us stitchers.lol Cant wait to see the finished project. I have a couple of things to finish but until I get my splint off, I will have to wait.
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job and it's always nice to finish a project. I think it's great that you changed the design to fit your taste...
ReplyDeleteHey There!! title of your blog caught my eye because.....I MAJORED IN HOME ECONOMICS TOO!!! but I DID teach...forever and ever and ever!!!! Even after they renamed it to Family & Consumer Science. Never did understand that. Loved my classes so much but am loving NOT teaching, or I should say NOT doing anything now even more!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your blog!
Too funny! I moved to a beach town and could see the handwriting on the walls for home ec. It was dying before I moved here. Only one of my home ec girls that I started with finished teaching in something home ec related. The rest of us all taught something else. I taught elementary (mostly 4th-6th), history, and science. My friend finished up teaching culinary skills. I would still major in it though. I loved it. I think it is needed today.
DeleteI love retirement though. Happy you dropped by.
I love seeing your needle work, Sandy. I wish I had the talent and the patience. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented and you must have good eye sight LOL I always love the bluebirds...
ReplyDeleteShow us some more pictures of your beautiful backyard!
Always, Roxy
Sandy, this is lovely! Well done.

This is just lovely Sandy, I believe it was Carol from Stitching Dreams that put Spring on the bottom instead of Home and I liked that much better than Home. I like the word left off and looking forward to your finish. Antique seam binding I believe is what the ribbon is called.
