June on the Bayou and a CS Finish

I was about to let June go by without documenting the bayou. June has been such a blessing to me. I have enjoyed the days so much even if many were raining. I wondered to myself the other day why was I loving the summer days so much this year ---and then it hit me.

Last year a good portion of the summer was spent with taking care of Mama with her most awful case of shingles. I wasn't even ready for summer to end last year because I had felt it was spent dealing with that.

I thought, "No wonder I am loving the days so much. Mama is doing pretty good right now. Certainly, NOTHING like last summer.

I took pictures of the bayou at one point when I thought there would be nothing but rain to take. Even after the tropical storm in the Gulf, many days rain just spun up out there.

I don't know if you can see it, but the next two pictures of the bayou were raining. I did one out to the bigger waters and one across the way.

Last Saturday, I reminded myself that I should be sitting out and sunning like a good summer day calls for. Now, I don't care two cents about a tan anymore...but I do love to just sit and enjoy the views.

I watched boats and people enjoying the water.

I took a few shots from my lawn chair on the dock.

The first is not a shot I do very often. It is back toward my side of the bayou and down the way.

The water is kind of red from all the rain we have had of late.

Then a shot down towards the entry to our bayou.

There was actually a salty breeze before lunch that day and very pleasant.

Then Monday morning, I thought the light was pretty.

June's bayou pictures recorded.

I am throwing in a cross stitch finish. I made my Cats on Parade drum this month.

Here are several pictures to show you all around it.

We are heading away from the beach for the 4th to our Auburn home. I am hoping for a quiet few days. Happy Independence Day to all,
Sandy

    1. Mother feeling better makes a huge difference. Do you have a new camera? The pictures you have taken and posted on IG are wonderful. I wish I were a photographer, but alas I am the one who can make a simple photo blurry. I love nature. I fell down walking down the street the other day looking up at the birds in a tree. Fortunately, I didn't hurt myself and I learned a good lesson:)

  3. Oh as I have said before if I lived at your house, it would be hard to get anything done as I would want to sit on the deck all day!! Your drum is perfection. I really like a drum finish as they are so cute, fairly easy to do and great for seasonal things. I need to get some containers to put all my seasonal things in now that I do not have the attic room at the old house. So glad you are having a good summer and your mama is doing well.

    1. I have really enjoyed the table and chairs that I didn't think I needed. I sit out there every morning with coffee and my Bible if it is not raining. Making the most of it.
I cleaned out Lindsay's dresser in her old bedroom to store my smalls. I still have some old sorority shirts in one and a bunch of high school ribbons and certificates in one but the others are mine now. It has been the perfect place for them so that I can get to them. I love opening the drawer and just looking at the stitches too.

The bayou photos are a virtual vacation for to my eyes. So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your blessings of the bayou with us.

Enjoy your trip weekend away. I'll be in your part of the state while you are in Auburn, just for the weekend.

    1. God Bless America indeed. I think America has a little repenting to do though, but we are going to keep praying for that. I am looking forward to a quiet weekend. We have our friends who we have known since forever meeting us in Auburn. They have a home there too. They live in Huntsville now but lived in FWB until recently. We are looking forward to our visit with them as well. Have a wonderful 4th too.

  10. Sandy: Your Bayou photos are beautiful even in the rain.
Nice drum I can never get mine to be a perfect as your or anyone else's
I am happy your Mother got rid of the shingles, I had a brother way back in 2001 that had cancer and shingles at the same time for three years.
    Have a lovely day.

    1. Hey Catherine, Thanks for stopping by.
I really like doing the drums. I need to put a patriotic one on my list for next year.
Shingles were simply awful for Mother. Mother had the vaccine for them decades ago and has to wait until next month to have another one. The vaccine doesn't last forever with that. She had them when she was in her 50s.

  11. Yay for a relaxing and enjoyable summer this year, Sandy! I'm so glad your mom is better and doing well right now. You just never know what tomorrow will bring so enjoy your freedom this summer. I so love your Bayou photos--really a beautiful view from your deck. I'm sure it must be so interesting watching the wildlife and changing light patterns.

Your drum is GORGEOUS!! I really need to try one myself one of these days.

Hope you have a wonderful 4th with your family. It's a quiet one here, but we'll all be together in California next week and I can't wait :) Enjoy your week ahead ♥

  12. I am late replying, but yes the light changes on the bayou. In fact, it is one way to tell the seasons even when the temperatures don't. I hope you are having a wonderful time with family.
