March is Here!

I know spring is not until the 21st, but the weather is shouting spring here. Everything is greening and the temps are pleasant. It has been very cloudy though. I find myself scooting outside if the sun comes out. I head out to sit, read, and let the dogs romp. My azaleas are budding while I have seen others beginning to bloom, so I simply had to bring out the spring decor.

Oh and the time needs to go ahead and spring forward, because the dogs have done so. Both are waking up earlier every morning. The last two days I have just given in and am surprised at how much I have gotten done earlier in the day. I really like to lay in bed though.

Speaking of time changes, the Florida legislature decided they needed to mess with my central time zone. Fortunately they came to their senses. If you are not aware, Florida is in two time zones and this old girl likes that. The panhandle is in central and the peninsula is in eastern. They wanted to change it all to eastern. NO thank you. I like my central time zone. The nerve! Can you tell I was not happy with that idea?

I have chosen Thursday to be my day for mom. I take her out and about to shop. I am not a shopper, but she likes to get out and look, so I told her that Thursday was a good day for me. I plan accordingly so I won't be distracted. She starts talking about it early in the week. We are off to Destin today to look for her a pair of shoes. She does fine with trips to the grocery store and Walmart. They are easy drives from her house, but I think she gets a bit nervous going too far from her house.

I have quite a bit of flower planting to do. My roses are doing well. I bought some day lilies so they need to be planted. I also take care of three planters at church, so I need to redo two of them. Winter zapped the other two. I need to get them going and pretty again before Easter.

My other big goal for the remainder of the week is to start tackling the garage. Ours is a bear of a thing to keep clean. I would blame it all on Jeff because he doesn't like to put things away, but  he has been trying.  Some time back he bought some new shelving and moved some old out. He hasn't found his way yet on making them work for him. They need a ladies touch and a bit of organizing. I have procrastinated long enough. I am heading out on Friday to try and make it look as presentable as  a garage can look.

It wouldn't be so bad, but.... y'all EVERYONE comes through our garage to get in our house. The front door is just a step or two away, but no one goes through it EVER. I can have the dang garage door shut and friends will text me and say, "Are you home?"

I give up. The garage has to look better. Wish me luck.

Don't those bunnies look lonely? I would love to add more, but even they will probably have to be relocated. The coffee table is Gus's hunting grounds.

One more...

Progress on Summer Schoolhouse Lesson 1 which is what I have been stitching on the past few days.

Hoping spring lasts a loooong time,
Sandy

You are a good daughter. we are headed to Ga and I have a pile of books. I agree about the time zones...that would be awful. glad they came to their senses.

    1. The cross was purchased at Joann's ages ago. It has nothing on the back. It is one of my favorite spring decor items. It really does look special with the clovers. I added a bow and that really made it look special.
Well, sometimes our cross stitch projects mark things that happen in our lives, such as you remember what stage you were in while doing that one. I think the March cottage will do that for you.
I am so happy they didn't do that to the time zone. I would hate being on eastern. It just wouldn't do, although I think they are still debating the not doing the biyearly change. That sure means it will be dark in the morning for little ones getting on a bus over here. Don't they understand that Ben Franklin worked all that out for us?!:)

  2. The last few days have been springlike here ... yesterday we walked without jackets! But snow and rain are coming tonight or tomorrow morning; a nor'easter, they say. We will see. If we get the rain predicted, along with the melting snow, we could see some pretty serious flooding.

    Love your March stitchery. Beautiful!

    1. March is definitely coming in like a lion in the northeast. I love those old sayings. I do hope there will no flooding. Hang on.

    1. Oh yes, the Panhandle is on central time and we would not do well with eastern this far west. I think we have learned to live with it, so we are fine.
Thank you...I have really loved my stitching time. Very relaxing.

    1. Thanks Barbara. I saw your door and improvements to the laundry area. I could use you over here as I have the tiniest and most misplaced laundry area ever. I have helped it all I can without getting Hubby on board. He hasn't gotten there yet. I did a post on it once. I am thankful it is inside and not in the garage like homes had them when I was growing up. I would work up a sweat in July and August getting things out of the dryer!

  5. Good luck on the garage, Sandy. I finally cleaned out the kitchen drawers. It took me forever! It WAS Spring here for a few days but we are now smack dab in the middle of a Nor'easter. Have a great weekend!

  6. Oh, Enjoy your lovely weather, we are dealing with another miserable snowstorm. I'm over winter!!

I love your Spring Décor, the sweet stitches mixed in. Your cross is beautiful, it does look like a Belleck. Good luck on the organizing...Your secretary is gorgeous, that is the mid-century modern look that I love...

  7. All your Spring pieces look wonderful Sandy. I love all of your stitches you have added...perfect addition. I wish we were in the Central Time Zone too. I love when we go out to Mike's because he is central. We have lived in all the times zones and I definitely like the central best. Glad Florida did not let you down. Looking forward to seeing all of your flowers in bloom. RJ

  8. My sister is under a thick blanket of snow right now. As it was beginning to fall I was mowing my lawn with the beautiful daffodils. I’m so happy for spring to arrive. I can finally plant herbs for summertime deliciousness. I can understand Florida wanting to be in one time zone. But I’m with you leave my clock alone . . . unless of course you want to remove Daylight Savings Time.

  9. Looks like Spring has really sprung both inside your home and out, Sandy! You are so lucky as things are still downright cold up here in PA!! I had no idea that FL was divided into two time zones--the interesting things you learn from blogs :)

Love your sweet March stitching--that is something I have very little of. I made 5 St. Patrick's Day pieces six years ago and haven't stitched a single thing for March since! Need to do something about that :)

  10. I love your March cross-stitch and all the notes of spring. We are in danger of skipping spring and going straight into summer, very hot here already.

  12. I didn’t know Florida had time zones, so I’ve learned something today. I found your lovely blog via Miss Janice, who I’ve been following for some time now. Here in England, Spring is trying to settle in. Crocuses and daffodils are in bloom. The green shoots of bluebells are getting tall in my backyard and I have hyacinths coming up in the front.

    1. Hello Alison! I am so glad you stopped by. Don't you just love Miss Janice. I am so glad she is blogging again. Instagram is just not enough:)
It was a bit cooler yesterday here. I had to pull out socks again. I can not stand for my ankles to be cold. Hopefully this will be the last of that. I am slowing getting my flowers all put together.
