A Quick Stitching Post

I have been stitching mostly on the new grandson's name. Palmer is arriving this month. He finally got a name and now I am trying to get it stitched. Just like Tucker's name I am using a very very old pattern for the letters but making it a little more 21st century with the choices around each letter.

This was Tucker's stitch.

Palmer's name is in progress.

I started in the middle with the M. I wanted to get that one done since I was using the boys from the pattern on that letter. I did add a baseball cap for the older boy and changed the colors, but this is the original pattern. The A is going to be sports stuff, the P is going to have a palm tree and a dog, and the R is going to be a continuation of our area with some beach stuff.

Then I have to stitch him a Christmas ornament and add a P to a Christmas stocking for him.

All that has left many of my stitches that I want to get back to lingering in the sewing room.

When we went to Auburn I knew I couldn't take the name stitch as I am drawing and planning and then going to pick out colors for the letters as I go.

Since it was Independence Day, I grabbed my Let Freedom Ring stitch to work on while there.
I know it doesn't look like I got much done, but I truly did. I feel like I am half way now on this piece but it will be another year before I get it finished. There are going to be a lot of stitches in that building.

The building will stretch all the way across. I have to go back up and catch the tower on the middle page, but other than that the top pages are complete.

That is all I have been able to accomplish. The summer heat is arriving now, so I should have some stitching time in the heat of the day now. I have had a hard time staying inside with the mild summer we have had this year.

Quick post...

Heading to get my hair done and to the library today.

  1. Hi Sandy, I enjoyed reading your blog today and seeing your creativity. I remember when you were stitching Tucker's name, so it is a treat to see Palmer's name taking shape. But, I have to tell you that seeing the two little boys under the M really tugged at my heartstring:) Thank you so much for sharing, and many blessings to you and yours.

    1. As I was looking through the pattern letters and saw the two boys throwing the ball I knew that one was the perfect one to have original. Thanks for your kind words.

  2. Such beautiful work, Sandy. Palmer's name stitch is going to be so cute. And Let Freedom Ring will be amazing. I have been working on a Prairie Schooler February sampler at the cottage and making some progress each time we are there. Now back to my Christmas in July posts ... I am trying to stay ahead of them!

    1. I know y'all have to be enjoying the cottage. It feels good sometimes to break the routine and get quiet. I have really made that part of my days even at home. I have days when I stay away from news and the computer which I have found just makes me a better person.

  3. Amazing stitchery!! I love that you create special ones for your grandchildren. That will be something to always cherish. And your Liberty stitch is going to be so wonderful! I can't wait to see the whole thing done, even if we DO have to wait until next year! LOL. I just would not have the patience to keep doing that. And I know I would only be able to work on one project at a time until it was done. Too much concentration for this old gal! LOL. That is why I admire your talent so much. I know it is something I could never do, so I appreciate your abilities so much more. Thank you for sharing it with us. Beautiful.

    1. I have wondered a few times if I have the patience for Let Freedom Ring. It is huge, but I will keep plugging away a little at a time. For now, I will be stitching Palmer's name. I think the way I am doing these they will not mind having them in their room as they get older.

  4. I hope the boys come to treasure these lovely artworks, unique to them. They're wonderful.
Ate their names family names? I'm guessing so.

    1. I wonder if I will ever finish Let Freedom Ring. I know it is so large that I can only stand to work on it a few days at a time, so it may take me two years. Let it be known I will NEVER choose one that big again:)

  9. The Tucker and Palmer stitches are really good. I love the two boys in the M! And the sail boat, and look -- you got your space influence in there, too! You are so clever, so talented.

Praying for a healthy delivery for both Lindsay (Lindsey?) and Palmer!

    1. It is Lindsay...when I chose that spelling I had a Lindsay with an a in my classroom several years before. I thought that was it. Then as I had my Lindsay there were lots of Lindsay's with every kind of spelling in the book, but absolutely none with an a. Lots of normal spellings with an e. Oh well, in this day and age I guess it goes with the territory. I am praying for that healthy delivery and postpartum too.

  10. Sandy: I think you have done a load of stitching.
I love the Tucker Sampler and the Palmer Sampler will be just as sweet.
Let Freedom Ring is such a beautiful design, we really need Patriotic designs now with all that is happening in the USA.

    1. I definitely think we need the patriotic designs and the glory of our flag. I am with you 100%. I even got upset the other day because I gave no thought to ordering a beach towel in rainbow stripes until someone said it was indicative of views I don't hold. I view the rainbow fondly as a sign of God's promise.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Palmer's stitched name is going to be terrific. Seeing the two little boys under the letter M, it suddenly dawned on me that Tucker is going to be a big brother! I'm sure I've realized that before now (lol), but suddenly I'm realizing that that sweet little boy we've watching grow up via your blog is going to become a big boy when Palmer arrives on the scene. Isn't it funny how that happens? How (even young) siblings suddenly seem bigger and older when a new baby arrives?

  12. Oh, I love the rocket addition to Palmers name! Let Freedom ring is just stunning! That is going to be one huge house!! I'm not a fan of stitching houses so kudos to you on tackling that big one!

    1. After I finish Independence Hall IF I ever do I will hate stitching houses too. I think I will have to move down the side and then do some of the bottom border and do the house a little at a time.
