Rain and Just Random Stuff

I have been a bit under the weather this week. It turns out I have been dealing with another kidney stone this week. I am not sure I am over this one yet. I am a bit better this morning so I thought I would pop in and give an update on life.

I was up night before last with the pain, but I am not sure I have passed it. I actually went to the doctor to get some medicine that is supposed to help the flow. We will see.

It has been a rainy June along the Gulf coast. I have not had to water plants hardly at all this month, but they have not just been all sparkles either for lack of sun. I am hoping to feel better today and a little sunshine so I can get outside.

Our niece and the twins have been here this week. You met them at Thanksgiving. We get to see them over the summer and at either Thanksgiving or Christmas each year as they live in Houston. They are our only little ones so they get all the attention. They are growing so much and are heading into second grade this year. I took no pictures as I have not been up to snuff. They were able to get on the kayak and paddle board yesterday morning before the rains. We all ate out on the Island last night at The Gulf and then came back here for cake. Our niece Kristan loves my pound cake, so I managed to get one made for her.

Lemony is going stir crazy with all the rain and me being down. I am hoping we will be able to walk today.

She looks so glum.

About the only thing I have done this week is bake a cake and start a Christmas ornament.

Looking for some sun and some gitty-up in my step,
Sandy

  1. Oh, that ornament is going to be so pretty, Sandy! I love it. You've got a good start on it!

We've been having loads of rain this June .. much more than usual, it seems to me. I hope that you see some sun and some more comfortable days soon.

    1. Thanks, I am in the Christmas mood for stitching and those are some easy quick finishes. I plan to do a few for the kids too.
I am feeling a bit better this morning. I think the stone has at least moved from the kidneys so hopefully I am on the upside. It is raining cats and dogs this morning. All from the Gulf... I guess that rain is better than a hurricane though:)

  2. Hope you are up and about soon Sandy. Marvin is down with arthritis and is in a lot of pain. If you would say a prayer for him. He has had to stop taking his anti-inflammatory due to side effects. I may have to get your doctor's name if things do not improve. I am taking Christmas ornaments to work on in Chatsworth. Cross stitching has helped me with my sanity this week. When Marvin feels bad I feel bad as well.

    1. I am so sad Marvin is hurting. It is no fun. If I had any advice and I know I sound nuts, but I would say go thirty days with no gluten at all and leave off anything with high fructose corn syrup. Those two things swell me up almost within an hour these days. I even take my own ketchup to places now. Rice is gluten free so that will give you a starchy fix. There is a brand that is non GMO too at most grocery stores.
      Enjoy your weekend.

    2. Thanks for the recommendation. I made him take some pain meds today. I mentioned to him that you had left off the gluten and had found that helpful. I think part of this pain is a detox from the Mobic.

    3. I am sure not taking Mobic after having had it doesn't help and I KNOW selling gluten free is hard. It has truly helped me, but it is hard talking yourself out of it for sure.

  3. Sandy, I hope that mean old kidney stone passed! How horrible to be in that pain. Lemony has the sweetest face and looks so sad that you are not up to par. Hope you have a wonderful painless, sunny weekend, sweet Sandy!

  4. Glad you were able to visit with your niece and the twins even with being bothered by a kidney stone! I hope you are on the mend soon and the stone ceases to be present. Your ornament is looking good; I stitched that one during June. Lemony is a sweetie. Enjoy your weekend, Sandy!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I am still waiting in the stone to pass. I am not in constant pain thankfully. It comes and goes. If it hasn't passed by the weekend I will go back to the doctor:( enjoy your weekend.

  5. Hi, I recently started following your blog and thought it was time I said hello. I will pray that your kidney stone ordeal is over quickly. Our pastor suffered terribly from kidney stones, so it always saddens me to hear of someone suffering from them. I also wanted to say I love your cross-stitch and especially those old Shaker style houses in cross stitch or paintings. Blessings to you ~ Linda

    1. Linda, thanks so much for your kind comments. I have renewed my love for cross stitching. Kind of fun to do some of the finishes that don't have to be framed and some seasonal stuff. I am still waiting on the stone to pass. Fortunately the pain is not constant ... just comes and goes. I am ready for it to be over though I can tell you that. So glad you commented.

  6. Hi Sandy, I am so sorry you are having to deal with kidney stones. I've heard they are more painful than giving birth--ugh! Hope it passes soon...

Love the little stitched ornament that you've started--hope your stitching keeps your mind off the pain for a bit :) Happy 4th to you and your family!
