Stitching Post: Bunny

I pulled my Let Freedom Ring sampler out but had a little trouble getting started back. Not only the circumstances of the past week, but I am better stitching long term on a piece to get it finished. I want this sampler done, but I have lost a little enthusiasm for it currently. I did get those borders around the wording finished this weekend. I am going to go ahead and get the words all done this next week.

I have a sampler in my mind I want to do. I am really thinking I may design my own. I am nuts!

I have an ornament and an Easter small that I want to do this month, so that is my March plan.

I did something I haven't done before. I found a pattern on Pinterest and stitched it for Lindsay.

I spent as much time looking for the designer to purchase as I did stitching on it!!!!!

I have finally decided it is a Veronque Enginger pattern and it is no longer in print. Much of it can be found on Pinterest. I hated to do that. I always feel a need to make sure the pattern is bought and paid for, but I simply couldn't find anything I liked better.

Lindsay said she would like an egg shape, so I also found this link to a way prettier finish than mine. It was what inspired my finish and was the place that I finally decided figured out it was a VE pattern. I looked for the book online to no avail. Well actually I saw a long ago link for a listing on a site for $450. Nope. Can't do that.

I had to put together all my own colors.

There is another bunny under that I did that is calling me.  I'm torn between that one and one in the current issue of Just Cross Stitch, so we will see what hits me when I start on it.

I also switched from mat board to some pressed board after watching a video. They also mentioned this wonderful fabric glue pen. The pressed board is much easier to cut than mat board, but I still felt it was sturdy. Don't you love my scissors that puppy Gus chewed on a couple of years ago? I also love the new glue pen. It is great for doing corners and gluing fabric down. Now, I did lace the bunny, but I used the blue on the fabric backing and ric rac. I did use my usual to glue the two pieces together, but I love the glue stick. That will be a repeat buy.

I am still loving my basket in the sewing room.

I still have room to work.

I am going to try and get a bit done this week though on Let Freedom Ring.

Jeff was able to get his first vaccination yesterday because he is in the school system. He is freaking out about me, but I know I am going to be soon. I think our state and specifically my county has done a good job, so I will hunker down a while longer. If the weather will keep moving towards spring and I can take long walks all will be good.

I am headed to church, so enjoy the day everyone.

  2. I love it..looks like a Beatrix Potter bunny!! Where do you get the pressed board? I got one of those glue pens for English paper piecing but now I realize I can use it in cross stitch too. Go for it on making your own sampler. Hey if 8 and 9 year old girls created their own back in the day, we can do it too.

    1. I loved that glue pen. I used it for the cloth edges around the curve without lacing. That was a win. I got the pressed board from Amazon. Here it is... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JL93BZH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I will email it to you later, b/c I can't get it to work. I am just thinking about a verse and a hymn with some alphabets and a little white church and a deer that would tie in the church and the verse. Now, if I can chart it out. WE will will:) Not going to happen right away. Need some time to think. I am keeping Tucker today.

  3. Awww... Linday will love that bunny, Sandy! What a darling finish... I love your basket filled with your small pillows on your worktable, too! Glad Jeff got his first vaccine--I think FL is really opening up from what my sister told me, so you should be able to get yours soon. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead ♥

  6. That is the cutest little bunny you've just stitched up. And what a pretty spot you have there to work. I have to tell you... reading your post today sent me to look again at subscribing to Just Cross Stitch magazine. I need a subscription and incoming cross stitch patterns like a need a hole in the head, but I've all but placed my order. We'll see if I can cool my heels long enough to get over the urge.

    1. I know what you mean. I don't get them all, but the actual individual magazine is more expensive than a subscription. There is a cute bunny in the current one.
